The Olhausen Story / Family Owned & Operated
During the fifties and sixties in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Butch and Donny Olhausen worked with their dad, Jerry, learning a trade that would be their livelihood later in life. They were barely big enough to see over the side of a pool table when they started.
Butch moved to California in 1968. He was joined by Donny three years later where they started their own service business. Part of what they did was deliver tables for a small pool table manufacturing company. in San Diego. When the owner of that company decided to sell it in 1973, the boys were there. They purchased the company for $1,000 plus inventory. The first year they made about 30 tables. They applied what they learned from their dad to the tables they made in their own shop. With a lot of hard work and some luck, they turned it into the largest pool table manufacturing company in the world. "We have lived the American dream" they would say years later.
After 30 years of manufacturing in the San Diego area, they decided it was time to move the factory to Tennessee where it would be closer to most of their dealers in the country. Donny and his family decided to go to Tennessee while Butch stayed in San Diego to run Olhausen GameRooms with his kids Willie, Brian and Lindsey. When you visit our store in San Diego you will usually find an Olhausen there to help. Just as Jerry's dad did in his pool hall in the 1930s. From first generation to fourth, Olhausen is known worldwide for it's quality, service and value. .....
